My 88-year old mother had a doll in her lap recently in the nursing home where she lives. and on the same day, she began asking my father if she might be pregnant. He assured her that she could not possibly be pregnant. Moreover, I believe that my mother was ambivalent about having children in her younger years, so I question whether she would really bond with a doll. Perhaps a doll would even create anxiety for her.

It's an absolutely horrible idea if the individual has Lewy Bodies Dementia. They see people and things - walls move, wild animals appear out of no where...

Personally, I thought I was doing my mom a favor by giving her a black cat stuffed animal that looked like her cat. It freaked her out and made her hallucinations worse.

So...

I don't think it works for folks with Lewy Bodies Dementia.
